All’s Well That Ends Well

Wednesday next week will be our last day at the Ark building. On Thursday we will move out, and be taking a break from trading as a cafe until the spring.
CATCH, The youth organisation that owns the building and runs fantastic events and programs for the young people in the area, are intending to take over the running of a community cafe in that space. We wish them all the very best.
So why the move, why is TLC choosing to move on from a space that was obviously working so well?
Well, the truth is that we are really proud of being part of the story of creating a community cafe in Harehills, but, on reflection, we know that it isn’t what we set out to achieve with the ToastLoveCoffee project:
We want to create a welcoming safe space for individuals to feel comfortable entering, and leaving having met someone new. The catalyst for these connections in the real world is the coffee and food.
We also hope that through our online presence here on the website and also on Twitter and Facebook, we are able to inspire people further afield then our local area to make those connections across ethnic, racial, religious, gender, any other boundaries.
So we’re going to take a break over the winter period with a view to reflecting, learning, and planning for a new chapter of ToastLoveCoffee to begin in Spring 2018.
If you are able, please do come down on Wednesday (9am-1.30pm) for our final day at the Ark- we will be celebrating together all that has been achieved with CATCH in the way we know best; with good coffee, good food, and good conversation.
