Family Update

It is Monday night and over the past few days, the life of the family that I wrote about last week has remarkably improved. First there is gas, so hot water, heating and a functioning hob. Still no doors on the kitchen cupboards but now they are filling up thanks to the generosity of the TLC network; chopping boards, plates, bowls, cutlery and food delivered on Sunday- along with bags of toys and clothes, and two footballs. I felt like Father Christmas! (which, if you have been reading the blog for a while, you will know made me feel particularly happy!)

The kids have school and nursery places, hopefully starting this week, thanks to a conversation with the headteacher of the school my kids go to. This means the boys will get a hot lunch each day, and more importantly their education can resume and future prospects will improve.

A dining table and chairs, thanks to someone in The Real Junk Food Project network, will hopefully be delivered on Wednesday.

I feel humbled at the generosity of my friends and those who have read the blog and responded. I feel proud that we have managed to help a family smile and see a future together in Leeds, and I feel angry that this all happened in the first place.

TLC will be open on Wednesday, 10-12.30. I wonder what stories will be shared, and whose lives we will connect with this week…

So lovely to hear this Anna, a really good Easter story in a world of not so good news at times. What a shining light your help must have been to this family. Easter Blessings to you all. x
